Weekly Tai Chi Classes
Downtown ymca - Form PRactice (huang xing xian - yang 37)
Wednesdays at 9:15 AM
This is the primary class to attend if you are interested in learning the form or if you are a beginner. I am mostly teaching the yang short form (the abbreviated Zheng Man Qing yang 37) as it was taught by master Huang Xing Xian. This practice is challenging but rewarding; the work is slow and mentally demanding. This kind of practice greatly strengthens the body and the mind; in particular taiji practice develops the legs and back, strengthening the knees, hips, and spine. This is very helpful for anyone with a restless mind, anxiety, depression or insomnia.
Wesley Grant Community Center - Foundations and Partner practice
Thursday evenings at 4:30
This class is a form flow class where we move through the yang 37. This class is good for those who are somewhat familiar with the form or for those who are starting in practice and would like to quickly learn the form. We practice in the beautiful Wesley Grant Community Center in the River Arts District.
Dragon Phoenix - Foundations and Partner Practice
Sunday evenings at 6:30
This class is foundational taiji partner practice; we work on developing the energetic bridge and learning how to sense and connect to another person through an energetic framework. The class is appropriate for all ages and skill levels. Beginners are welcome. I recommend this class for anyone who does energy work, massage, wrestling or grappling; the class is helpful for anyone interested in developing a deeper capacity to sense energy in their own body and in another’s.

Asheville Community Yoga - Qigong Foundations
Wednesday evenings at 6:30 - Please sign up online at https://ashevillecommunityyoga.org/class-schedules/
This is a foundational qigong class which will develop sensitivity to the three layers of the human being - the physical body, the energetic body (qi, prana, astral body), and the mental body. Practice will consist of:
- sensitivity training to increase feeling awareness around the astral matrix,
- meditative induction to increase integration between the mental and astral bodies, and
- energetic stretches to increase the strength and size of the astral form.
This class is well suited to those in the movement arts, energy arts, or those looking to deepen a self-awareness or spiritual practice.
