Chinese Medicine Tutoring & Guest Teaching
Classical Chinese medicine is a living tradition — one that depends on committed students and curious practitioners to carry it forward. Beyond clinical care, Asheville Holistic Acupuncture offers a range of educational services for students of Chinese medicine, healthcare practitioners, educators, and anyone with a serious interest in deepening their understanding of the medicine.
Chinese Medicine Tutoring
Tutoring is available for students actively enrolled in an acupuncture or Oriental medicine program, as well as for individuals pursuing independent study outside of a formal curriculum. Sessions are tailored to your current level, your program's requirements, or your personal learning goals.
Topics covered include:
Fundamental theory — Qi, Yin and Yang, Five Elements, Zang-Fu organ systems
Channel and collateral theory — primary channels, extraordinary vessels, sinew and luo channels
Point location, function, and classical indications
Herbal medicine — understanding herb function according to flavor, temperature, channels entered, and method of preparation
Formula study — differentiation of classical formulas and their clinical applications
Pulse and tongue diagnosis
Pattern differentiation and clinical reasoning
Classical text study — Neijing, Nanjing, Shanghan Lun
Logistics: Sessions are $50 per half hour, whether individual or group. In-person sessions are available for those in Western North Carolina. Students outside the region are accommodated virtually by video. All tutoring is conducted directly with Tyler White, who has served on faculty at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville.
