Shoni-Shin Complete Kit — 8 Traditional Japanese Pediatric Acupuncture Tools
Shoni-shin is one of the most refined and distinctive branches of East Asian medicine — a needle-free system of pediatric treatment developed in Japan several hundred years ago, designed specifically for treating infants and children through gentle surface stimulation of the channel system rather than needle insertion. Because children's qi is abundant, dynamic, and close to the surface, the light tapping, stroking, and pressing techniques of shoni-shin produce rapid and meaningful clinical responses with a fraction of the stimulation required for adult treatment. Most children find it entirely comfortable, and many find it deeply relaxing.
This complete kit includes one of each of the eight traditional shoni-shin instruments, representing the full range of technique available in classical Japanese pediatric practice:
Bachi Bari (Plectrum) — a flat striking instrument used for tapping stimulation along channel pathways
Heragata Arrow — a pointed pressing tool for specific point work
Choto — a rounded tapping instrument for gentle surface stimulation
Hoki — a raking tool for dispersing technique across broader areas
Choki — a pressing and scraping instrument for channel work
Kakibari Rake — a multi-tine rake for simultaneous stimulation across parallel channels
Solid Copper Yoneyama — a classic pressing and rolling instrument; the copper material is traditionally valued for its conductive and tonifying properties
Matsuba (Pineapple) — a textured rolling instrument for broader surface stimulation and dispersing technique
Each tool serves a specific therapeutic function within the shoni-shin system, and a complete kit allows the practitioner to move fluidly between tonifying, dispersing, and harmonizing techniques depending on the child's pattern and constitution. Purchasing the complete kit saves meaningfully compared to acquiring the tools individually.
